PAL- Educational Programs
Homework Club
The educational component of PAL consists of an after school homework club
monitored by Instructional Volunteers. If the student does not maintain a
GPA of a 2.0 or better they are required to attend tutoring in order to
participate in Homework Club activities.
College
Prep Initiative
This program is designed to instill the importance of attending college. It
will focus on preparation for SAT/PSAT tests and maintaining adequate grades
throughout high school. In addition, it will provide assistance for the
college application process, financial aid qualifications, and exposure to
local college campuses.
Drug
Awareness Program
This program addresses the tendency for youth to gravitate to drugs because
of peer influence and the lack of positive role models in their lives. The
Dallas Police Department and the Dallas Police Athletic League offer
education and the presence of positive role models.
PAL
Weekend and Nighttime Activities Program
This program addresses the large number of youth who have no access to
constructive activities on Friday and Saturday evenings and weekends. It
may involve events such as job search training, etiquette classes, and arts
& culture appreciation field trips.
PAL Mentoring
A program focused on young
male and female development, academic achievement and self-discipline. The
curriculum would be designed to address and instill self-esteem and respect,
the respect of others, and to promote both social and academic
matriculation. Our goal is to provide participants with the means to form
and find their own self excellence through education, workshops and
self-discipline.
PAL Summer
Camp
The PAL
Summer Camp Program is offered to help our youth combat summer boredom and
to provide a fun alternative to excessive idle time. Participants |
